In January the space under the bandstand was opened up for the first time in 50 years to reveal 1725 mm (5’ 8”) headroom. If the space can be made safe and dry it could be used to store seating and modern sound equipment.

Can you spare an hour or so this Thursday 11th December at 5pm to help out surveying local people about how they use the Pump Room Gardens and changes they would like to see under the funding proposal being submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund next year?

Please meet us outside the Band Stand Tearooms on Dormer Place at 5pm and we will give you some copies of the simple 10 question survey to go around and complete with members of the public. There will be lots of people around as this will be the start of the annual Lantern Parade.

We will supply pens and clipboards and reward you with hot drinks and biscuits (maybe even mulled wine if you are lucky!!).

Wrap up warm – extra socks, hat and gloves! If you arrive late or can’t find us in the crowds then call Kath on 07814 605245.

We are carrying out a survey to collect baseline information about how the Gardens are being used now, as well as your ideas for how they could be improved. Your comments and suggestions will help the group prepare their proposal which, if successful, will be implemented from January 2016 onwards.

Warwick District Council and the Friends of the Pump Room Gardens are delighted that the Heritage Lottery Fund has approved a grant to prepare detailed plans for a £1 million restoration of the Gardens.

WDC, The Friends and Warwickshire County Council will be working in close partnership to produce these plans and develop exciting new events for the Gardens. The public will be consulted about the restoration works and new events. The intention is that the project will be funded 10% each by the Friends and the Council, and 80% by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

During 2014, consultants Allan Randall and Sarah Douglas were appointed and began talking to community groups and local schools about the restoration of the gardens.
More recently, local community organisation ARC CIC, led by Kath Pasteur and Kristie Naimo which recently converted the overgrown wilderness between the rail tracks adjacent to Prince’s Drive to a community woodland now known as Foundry Wood, has also been recruited to help engage the community
